Mally technique

Sports injury

Sports chiropractic is not limited to treating sports injuries: with the right technique, injuries may be prevented and athletic performance improved.

Sports “chiropractic” vs. sports “medicine”

With the proper sports chiropractic technique, injuries may be prevented by improving core stability and proprioception, and by sharpening the brain’s control over the muscles. Chiropractic treatment can also play a pivotal role in improving overall athletic performance. Studies have shown that the nervous system changes after a single session of spinal adjustments are similar to those seen after three weeks of strength training.

Injuries

When treating an athlete it is important to “zoom out” and evaluate from the feet up to the head. Mechanical changes in the feet and ankles can cause distortions through the entire kinetic chain, leading to knee, hip and spine problems. The upper body is no different: a shoulder problem calls for an evaluation of the whole chain, elbow, wrist and shoulder blade.

Better structure equals better function

Many sports injuries involve some degree of inflammation, whether from overuse, improper mechanics or trauma. Poor alignment within your joints creates inflammation from wear and tear and leads to pain and the breakdown of joint cartilage. Inflammation can be treated with chiropractic adjustments and proper nutrition and supplementation.
